Diagnosis and final days

Zhu was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare soft tissue cancer, about a year and a half before her death. Reports said doctors gave her one to two years to live; she documented her treatment online and continued to share updates with followers.

Her daughter said the death was “sudden” after her mother “failed to respond to medical treatment.” In a tribute, she described Zhu’s final months: “For the past year and a half, she had been repeatedly tormented by illness, enduring unimaginable physical pain yet she remained optimistic and strong.”

Career and online presence

Known to many as Mi Duo, Zhu built a substantial following on Douyin, the original Chinese version of TikTok, amassing more than 100,000 fans. She ran a cosmetics brand and had previously worked as a model, sharing aspects of her life and, later, her illness with followers.

Family and tributes

Zhu’s daughter paid tribute, calling her a “warrior” and a “hero” who pushed through relentless treatment. She recalled Zhu comforting her in her final days: “A few days before she passed away, already blind and slurring her speech, she still held my hand and comforted me, ‘Don’t cry, baby. This is a tough time, but Mommy will be better in a few days.’”

Zhu, from Harbin in China, leaves behind her husband and three children. The family’s statements and the online tributes remembered her as devoted to her children and determined in the face of illness.

The report also noted recent coverage of other social media stars who have died in recent weeks, underscoring the losses felt within the online creator community.
