Carolina Reyes, known to her followers as Carol the Warrior, has died at 23, her family announced. They said Reyes passed away on March 11 after a battle with cancer she had shared publicly.
Family announcement
The family posted to Instagram Wednesday to announce her passing, writing, “It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our warrior.” The post continued, “She was a warrior, a brilliant person and a human being who never gave up in the face of any difficulty that came her way.” The family said Reyes died March 11.
Her public health battle
Reyes had revealed her cancer diagnosis in February. In December she wrote about the toll the illness had taken and how it changed her, posting, “[It was] a year that shattered me into pieces, but also taught me to rebuild myself from scratch. This year showed me how strong I can be, even when I felt I couldn’t go on. And now, as I say goodbye to this year, I’m not just closing a chapter. I’m closing a chapter of myself.”
