Erin Oudshoorn announced on social media that her daughter, Lulu, has died. Lulu was six years old and had been diagnosed with a rare form of epilepsy, West syndrome, when she was 11 months old. Erin said Lulu passed away peacefully on January 27, 2026, surrounded by family.

On January 27, 2026, Erin Oudshoorn posted on her social channels to share the news of her daughters death. In the post she described the familys grief and said they were “utterly broken.” The announcement included an intimate image of the family holding hands and made clear that Lulu died peacefully, surrounded by loved ones.

“6 years, 3 months, 29 days. It is with the most painful, shattered heart to share that our darling Lulu passed away peacefully in our arms yesterday, surrounded and profoundly loved on by all of her extended family. Dave and I are just utterly broken. There simply arent enough words to express our agony. Our baby girl is gone.”

Health journey and public awareness

Erin had documented Lulus health journey publicly for several years. According to her posts and a related blog entry, Lulu was diagnosed with West syndrome — a rare epileptic disorder — before her first birthday. Erin wrote that Lulu experienced daily seizures, global developmental delay and was non-verbal. At times Lulu suffered infantile spasms; Erin noted there were days with more than 200 such events.

The family described how seizures affected Lulus ability to walk, stand or feed independently. Erin used her platform to raise awareness of the condition and to share the realities of caring for a child with complex neurological needs.

Response and condolences

Erins posts drew an outpouring of condolences from followers who had followed Lulus story. Lulus Instagram page had more than 23,000 followers who watched her journey. Social media users offered messages of sympathy and support to Erin, her husband and extended family during this time.
