K. Reshma, known online as Chinnu Pappu, 24, was found dead in her rented home in Kasaragod on 9 February 2026. Authorities have registered an unnatural death and are investigating the circumstances while urging the public to avoid speculation.
Life and career
Born in Adhur village in Kerala’s Kasaragod district, K. Reshma built a significant online following under the name Chinnu Pappu. The digital creator was known for short videos that celebrated local culture, village life, food and travel, often delivered in the Kasaragod dialect. Her Instagram account had more than two lakh followers and she typically posted weekly; her last reel was shared six days before her death.
Reshma is survived by her four-year-old son, who is now reportedly living with her parents in Adhur. People who knew her described her as soft-spoken and hard-working, and credited her for bringing visibility to regional language and traditions through her content.
Circumstances and police investigation
Reshma was found inside her rented room in Uliyathadka, near Kasaragod town, shortly before midday on 9 February 2026. Her brother, Ratheesh, discovered her and notified neighbours, who rushed her to a nearby hospital; doctors declared her brought dead on arrival.
Vidyanagar police have registered a case of unnatural death and say initial examinations suggest suicide is the suspected cause. Officials told reporters there were no visible signs of external injury or foul play at the scene, that her phone is being examined and that statements are being taken from family members. Police said the body will be handed to the family after completion of the post-mortem.
Community reaction and wider concerns
News of Reshma’s death spread quickly on social media. Followers and regional creators expressed shock and sorrow, sharing memories of her videos and noting the contrast between her on-screen persona and the difficulties she may have faced privately. “Her content always celebrated simplicity and joy – it’s heartbreaking that someone who brought smiles to others was struggling so profoundly,” one follower wrote on Instagram.
Her passing has prompted renewed discussion about mental health and the pressures faced by young content creators. Mental health professionals and peers have emphasised the need for accessible support and compassionate online communities.
Ongoing inquiries
Police have described the matter as under investigation and said they will await the autopsy and technical evidence before drawing conclusions. Authorities have asked the public and press to refrain from speculation while the inquiry continues.
We are reporting only confirmed details. Our condolences go out to her family, friends and followers at this difficult time.
