“We said goodbye to my sweet, amazing, hilarious and one of a kind granny last week.

She lit up every room she walked into, smiled at every stranger she passed and was always guilty of having too much chatter down Dunblane High Street.

I will miss her so much but there will not be a day that goes by that I won’t think of her and take a little bit of her with me.

What a life she led and I will count my lucky stars to have grown up with such a light of a woman in my life.

Grandfather Roy Erskine and family memories

The family also announced that Roy Erskine, Shirley’s husband and Andy Murray’s grandfather, died last month. Roy was reported to have died aged 94. Stirling Albion, one of his former clubs, released the news of his passing.

Roy began his career as a full-back with Hibs in 1952 after completing national service. He joined Stirling Albion two years later and later moved to Cowdenbeath, where he played 56 of 57 games. Members of the family recalled moments from his time with the club, including a 2023 photograph shared by Judy showing him with a Division Two trophy at Forthbank Stadium.
