Oleg Gusev, a well‑known Ukrainian actor, has died at the age of 56 after a long battle with illness. Friends, colleagues and fans marked his passing and recalled a career that made him a familiar face on Ukrainian screens.

Life and career

Oleg Gusev was born in Bila Tserkva and studied at the Bila Tserkva National Agrarian University before dedicating his life to acting. Over several decades he appeared in a number of Ukrainian films and television series and remained an active and recognizable presence in the industry.

His screen credits include roles in Rhinoceros, I Work in a Cemetery, In That Region of Heaven and Vaska Nemeshaev. In recent years he collaborated with FILM.UA Group and continued to work steadily.

Funeral and tributes

The actor’s funeral took place on March 24 at the monastery on the grounds of the Botanical Garden. Following the ceremony, he was cremated at Baikove Cemetery in Kyiv.

Comedian and colleague Vadim Michkovsky announced Gusev’s death on social media, posting a touching message that described him as a man with a big heart who brought friends together and spread positivity. Colleagues and viewers have shared condolences following the announcement.
