Sidney 'Omen' Brown

Grammy-winning producer Sidney “Omen” Brown, 49, who worked with artists including Drake, Beyoncé and Lil Wayne, has had his cause of death released by the medical examiner.

Cause of death

According to the medical examiner, Brown passed away from atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. The manner of death was determined to be natural. The report notes atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) is caused by plaque buildup in the arteries.

Circumstances of his passing

Brown’s body was found by a relative inside his Harlem, New York, apartment on September 13, 2025 after staff at his workplace contacted his family when he did not show up for his shift.

Career and tributes

Brown was a Grammy-winning producer who worked with a range of high-profile artists, including Drake, Beyoncé and Lil Wayne. He earned a Grammy for Best Rap Album in 2007 for his work on Ludacris’ album “Release Therapy.” In the later years of his life he worked at Ethyl’s Bar & Restaurant; the venue, via Instagram, remembered him as “a DJ who could get our Dance floor jumping.”

He was 49.
