Valerie Perrine, the actress best known for playing Eve Teschmacher in Superman (1978) and Superman II (1980), has died. She was 82. According to close friend and filmmaker Stacey Souther, Perrine died Monday at her home in Los Angeles.

Those close to Perrine said she spent the day before her death watching her old movies, and that the death last year of friend and co-star Gene Hackman had taken a heavy toll on her; the two were very close from their time on the Superman films.

Perrine’s loved ones have launched a GoFundMe to raise money for her funeral, saying she wished to be buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in the Hollywood Hills. The family has asked for privacy as arrangements are made.
