Sedaka rose to fame in the 1960s with chart-topping songs including “Oh! Carol,” “Calendar Girl” and “Breaking Up Is Hard to Do.” He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1983, received five Grammy nominations over the course of his career and was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1978.
At the time of his death, Sedaka’s family said they were “devastated” by his “sudden passing.”
He was 86.
