Former NFL fullback Lorenzo Neal, 55, announced the death of his mother in an emotional statement shared on X. Neal described his mother as “my pillar, my world” and paid tribute to her faith and the legacy she and his late father left behind.

Neal posted the news on X, writing that his mother and father “were tremendous believers who loved God deeply and sacrificed so much to touch the lives of others.” In his post he urged others to reconcile with their parents and express their love, saying, “If you are blessed to still have your parents, please put aside your differences and let them know how much you love them, because tomorrow is never promised.”
Neal also wrote: “She was my pillar, my world, & a woman whose faith and love touched so many. I pray I can live a legacy even half as strong as the one my parents left behind.” The announcement included a credit to Instagram @lorenzoneal41.
Career and legacy
Neal began his professional career as a fourth-round pick of the New Orleans Saints in the 1993 NFL Draft. The fullback went on to play 17 seasons in the NFL across seven teams and was a four-time Pro Bowler. He retired in 2009 after a brief preseason stint with the Oakland Raiders and was later nominated for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2026.
His son, Lorenzo Neal Jr., also had a short spell in the NFL with the Saints and the Denver Broncos.
